Steve McQueen...

The "King of Cool" woulda been 80 today, March 24th... a few pics from 3 of his best films.

"The Great Escape" - ALWAYS on my list of fave films!

"Hell is for Heroes" - Steve is living intensity in this damn good WWII actioner directed by Don "Dirt Harry" Seigel.

"Bullitt" - possibly THE quintessential McQueen role. And man oh man, that car chase!

My 1/18th scale Ertl die cast replica of the 1968 Mustang Fastback Steve drove in "Bullitt".

A good actor and good memories of his films, pity he died at an early age because his career could have been spectacular. I have a good memory too of his film: Papillon, with Dustin Hoffman. A small part in the beginning of the film was shot in Ondarribia, Euzkadi (Iberian Peninsula)

I admit, I haven't seen as many Steve McQueen movies as I would have liked because I think he was a really great actor. Of what I have seen I think I enjoy Love With the Proper Stranger the most. It seems like such a different kind of role for him!

Manel - i like Papillion too, an underrated movie!

Francy - that's my fave Natalie Wood film (the Searchers and Rebel, not really being "Natalie" films per se) and i agree it was a bit diff for Steve but he still had that "something" that makes him HIM.

Blue - i have the Dodge Charger from Bullitt too but that was one that needs to be put together and i just havent gotten around to it yet. Yup. lots of stuff, too much stuff, not enough stuff, gotta get some more stuff!

Only 80... wow. What a legend. I wish we could bring him back for one more movie. Mind you, I could say that about a lot of people.
