The return of THE DESK!!!!!!!!!!

I've been chipping away at all the wonderful early pre-code Loretta Young films I burned off of TCM last month and tonight while watching "The Ruling Voice" (which I had actually seen many years ago) I spotted "THE DESK"!!!!!!!

For any that have been around here for a while, you may recall I wrote a piece about this amazing Art Deco desk appearing in 3 different films, well now we can add a 4th to the list! Below are the other 3 pictures this awesome desk appears in...

"Beauty and the Boss" starring Warren William and Marion Marsh

"High Pressure" Starring William Powell

"Under Eighteen" starring Warren William and Marion Marsh

It is my intention that someday I will build a replica of this Desk for my very own!

btw blogger...you suck!
"The more you overtake the plumbing the easier it is to stop up the drain"
Between all the Captcha nonsense we have to type in to post a fucking comment to the stupid way they keep changing the posting software, its no wonder this place is dying a slow death.

That desk is amazing and how cool is it that you found it in so many movies. Can you make a replica for me too? I love Art Deco furniture. Heck I love Art Deco anything.

I hear ya on the Blogger front. I wish Google would spend more of their time on their existing products and less time on stupid stuff like Google Glasses and Google Airport. Perhaps if they put the same creativity they use to make the Google Doodles into Blogger it would be a better service. I hardly get comments anymore. It's easier to tweet or share on Facebook than it is to leave a comment these days.

And again yay Art Deco!

i hear ya Quele, and its not like the blogger posting software was EVER really that good to begin with and so to have these issues go unfixed or to get worse is just absurd. i was set to do a huge John Garfield centennial birthday post saturday as part of a big blogathon but sadly there is no way i am gonna subject myself to that kind of aggravation. like you say its way easier to post on FB and the interaction is more direct as well. i'm not closing down the blog but the posts are gonna be kept really simple from now on.

speaking of FB i have started an Art Deco album there so stop by and check it out if you have a few minutes! as for the desk ummm well my INTENTION is to build one someday...weather i ever get around to it is another matter but if i do i'll keep you in mind haha :D

What a cool desk! I wish you much good fortune in building one like it for yourself.

I'm sorry you won't be able to include the John Garfield part of your movie paperware collection in the blogathon, but I truly understand. Not sure why Blogger always changes things. Their changes often result in problems. My philosophy, "Just leave it alone."

Have a great weekend!

Me again. I was just thinking (yes, I do that occasionally!)...if you'd still like to take part in the blogathon, you could link one of the John Garfield posts you've already done. It doesn't have to be something current.

Just a thought. Let me know, okay?

thanks for understanding Patti and yes i will link to a previous post.

You mentioned that the interaction on FB is more direct, which, of course, in my opinion, makes interaction more satisfying. I'm a "quality over quantity" person any day of the week, so I'm into internet social forums for getting to know people, not to just grow my blog.

For me, FB is not satisfying at all. For one thing, almost zero of my friends have an interest in classic films, which is something I enjoy discussing. Also, the majority of my friends send through dozens of political posts every day. I have both liberal and conservative friends, and I grow weary of the GOP-bashing and/or anti-Obama articles assaulting me all day long, so I pretty much have disengaged from there.

A social forum I love and which I want to invite you to join (if you're interested) is The Golden Age of Hollywood. We share pictures, have groups in which we discuss films of favorite stars (I started the John Garfield and Robert Ryan pages and have just taken over the Fredric March page.) We even play games.

You may have no interest in it, but in case you do, I wanted to extend an invitation. Here's the link to the site.

haha oh indeed the political and religious posts dont do a thing for me either, but i just unsubscribe or unfriend people that use FB in that manner. i just joined the group you mentioned and am waiting approval. not sure how much time i can spend there but i will certainly give it a whirl :D thank you for the invite!!!

To tell you the truth, I'm not on FB much any more. I'm on there for work and try to catch up with friends but I really hate FB. I use it for work purposes and by the end of the day I'm just done with it. My focus right now is more on other platforms and blogging.

What was it that you could not do on Blogger for the John Garfield centennial?

i have noticed your absence quelle, but i can certainly understand what you mean. i actually never bothered with my Garfield post because THIS post took me almost 20 minutes to get set up right with a measly 4 pics. they would not post in the proper order and kept ending up side by side and i re-added them at least 5 or 6 times and i swear i was going nuts! my JG post was going to be 40 or more pictures plus text and i decided i just wasn't in the mood for the possibility of that kind of aggravation. as it is when i edited my previous JG birthday post from last year to add a link to patti's blogathon (so at least i could keep my word and contribute something!), blogger promptly readjusted all the text and spacing on the pics and i had to fix all of it. bloggers software has always been garbage and it seems all they have done is facelift the garbage without really addressing the issues at hand at all so now its just fancier garbage.
